Hello Classics and Show Band Families,
I'm writing to you from the hotel computer lounge in Mitchell, SD as I await news on my truck that thankfully waited to explode coolant all over the place while also throwing my serpentine belt just as we pulled into the driveway of a friend. I really have bad luck with cars! Despite that crazy and unfortunate situation, I am extremely thankful for so many things including my new Classics and Show Band family! More specifically: Thanks for making my family and I feel welcome. You all have no idea how much that means to our family! We moved a long way from friends, family and all things comfortable to embark on a new adventure. Each week that passes, we feel more and more like Wheaton is home, and that is largely due to all of you and your support! Thanks for jumping in and helping! We've already begun the process of getting ready for an incredible season, and that simply cannot happen without the time, talents and support of all of you! Plans are under way and volunteers are being coordinated for Choral Classic and Cabaret, and the competition season is in full swing with parents helping with travel arrangements, costume fittings, bringing snacks, and the list could go on! You all do these things for our amazing kids, and as cliche as it sounds, the Classics machine would not get anywhere without you! I remember being very impressed with the parent group as an outsider when I would see you at Choral Classic or out on the road when I judged competitions, but I really had no idea of the depth of dedication, commitment and positive energy that I would witness as the new director! This dynamic and strong parent group is a huge part of our success and has me buzzing with anticipation at what this and many more Classics seasons will bring! Finally, thanks for your awesome kids! Now that the school year is in full swing, and we're going pretty hard with Classics and Show Band rehearsals, you're seeing your kids a little less, and more than likely they're with me! I gotta tell you, these young people are absolutely firing on all cylinders! They come to rehearsals prepared, with great attitudes and leave each practice feeling accomplished and ready to blow people away this comp season! When I'm around them, it's hard to remember that I'm actually 40 years old...they give me life and energy that has me wishing I could be performing alongside them! However, when I was in show choir we moved our hands a lot and didn't do much with the feet! I've tried some of the stuff they are working on, and that instantly reminds me that yes, I am 40....and out of shape! Anyway, you all have every reason to be proud of these kids! They are working incredibly hard and are doing so with a desire to better themselves and the world around them! This is really just a long winded message to say that my family and I really do feel like we made the right choice to come to Wheaton! You and your kids have made us feel like we're home! Love and hugs from all of us (Chris, Mindy, Madison and Owen)! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Lace 'em up and stretch 'em out! The 5th annual Turkey Burn 5K will be held at the Moore house on Friday, November 25th.
Once again, we're excited to host this family-friendly 5K on the day after Thanksgiving. Last year, we had nearly 150 participants, volunteers, and spectators join in on the fun. In the four years of this event, we raised and donated $15,000 to PADS, whose mission is to end homelessness in DuPage County. Our goal is to create a fun environment for friends and family to run or walk the 5K distance (3.1 miles). We have several first-time runners and salty veteran runners each year. So, please join us at 10am on the Friday after Thanksgiving (11/27) for the 4th annual Turkey Burn 5K. The Turkey Burn course starts and ends at our house on 189 Tennyson Drive. If you don't want to run or walk at all, that's perfectly OK -- just come over to eat some donuts, drink hot coffee, or socialize. What you need to do next: please RSVP on the web page listed below to ensure we have enough donuts, coffee, etc on hand. The website also provides more details about 'race day' as well as pictures and results from the previous years: This is an open invitation, so please bring whomever you think will enjoy it or forward this email onto another friend. Overeat Thursday. Burn it off Friday! - Cheech, Bridget, Matt, Maggie & Ryan Moore |
