Hey, guys! As I mentioned yesterday, I'm looking for some of you to step up and perform as part of the Electric Youth Show Band. EY is the show choir from Edison Middle School. The charts won't be hard to learn, and we will likely only have about 3-4 rehearsals leading up to the competitions. Here's what I'm thinking:
1/25: Rehearsal, 3:30-4:30 2/1: Rehearsal, 3:30-4:30 2/8: Rehearsal, 3:30-4:30 2/10: Competition, 6-9PM (Manteno, IL) 3/1: Rehearsal, 3:30-4:30 3/3: Competition, 6-9PM (Arlington Heights, IL) Rehearsals are tentative until I know when you guys are available/space is available and depends on how quickly you learn the music. Transportation to/from competitions will be provided by Electric Youth parents. There will be NO additional fee for being part of the EY Show Band. Instruments Wanted (1 of each): Piano Guitar Bass Drum Trumpet Sax Trombone Please let me know ASAP if you are interested. Thanks!! Good evening Esprit, Classics and Band families! Thanks so much to everyone who turned out Monday for the information meeting. It was really nice to see such a great turnout. PLEASE NOTE, MIKE MOUKHEIBER ([email protected]), not Chris Miller, WILL NEED A REPLY TO THIS EMAIL BY 11/4. This will summarize a lot of the information I went over Monday. The Gaylord Opryland
So as an example, if you're staying for 4 nights and there are 2 people in your room, here's how you get to the $1,010 total cost. $385 (the cost for a 4 night stay per adult) multiplied by 2 (for 2 adults). That gets you $770. Then there is a supplemental charge for 2 people vs quad occupancy. That charge will be $60 per night multiplied by 4 nights. That's an additional $240. $770 plus $240 totals $1,010. On a per night basis, that's $252.50 a night.
Phew. Enough math. For now.
Thanks so much everyone. Mike Moukheiber Hi, The first draft of the Classics Rehearsal Schedule was something I made back in May when I was still very new to all of this!!! I have adjusted the schedule, as there were some date and time mistakes. Here is the latest rehearsal schedule. Please look it over and let me know if you have any questions. Here it is: CLASSICS SCHEDULE UPDATED 10/19/16 I'm fresh off my first choir concert here in Wheaton, and it has me very excited for many more performances with all of these amazing kids! Thank you for all you do to make the Classics program a fun and successful one! GO CLASSICS! Mr. Miller Classics, We are going to have fittings for Cabaret costumes before rehearsals over the next couple of weeks.
Classics Girls We will be fitting you this Thursday the 13th. We will be ready for you starting at 5:45. Come when you can. Please have your body shaper on when you arrive to save time and bring your character shoes. If you are not going to be at rehearsal Thursday you can come next week. Classics Guys We will be fitting you next week (Monday 17th and Thursday the 20th). We have scheduled 2 days for you because you have a lot more pieces to try on. We will be ready for you starting at 5:45 both days. Just get there when you can. Thanks Everyone! Mrs. Wooton (630-777-7142). Here's a note from Mike Moukheiber regarding our Nashville trip:
Show Choir Family - As you all know, we're looking forward to our trip this spring to Nashville for our competition at the Heart of America. As you can imagine, it's spring break, a large competition and Nashville is a popular destination so hotels are tight already. The hotel situation through the Heart of America package (where the kids will be staying) is a bit complicated on the pricing/logistics side for families wanting to stay there as well. Everything is based on quad occupancy and there are surcharges for anything less. Currently, all rooms are secured through Heart of America for our group and you can't call directly to book on your own. Because there have been a lot of questions already about this event and because we know your spring break needs some advanced planning time, we've decided to have a parent information meeting about it for anyone interested to try to answer questions. That will be held on Monday October 17 at 6pm at WWS location TBD. Regardless of where you choose to stay, I would highly encourage everyone who is thinking of going to Nashville for all or part of spring break to either book soon through the Heart of America package (once we explain it at the meeting) or elsewhere as soon as possible. Additionally, if you are flying, rental cars are also booking up extremely fast. I'd like to thank Carolyn Harding-Redd and Lisa Logan for their extensive help putting this all together. The Classics and Esprit will leave later in the day on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 and return Sunday, April 2, 2017. The actual competition will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the: Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center 2800 Opryland Drive Nashville, TN 37214 615-889-1000 www.marriott.com Search Gaylord Hotels Nashville We want to provide our show choir/band families with some other less expensive options in the area to begin making reservations if they plan to make this trip. Please note these are strictly options in the area and no room blocks are in place. As this competition is highly attended, and given the spring break time of year we encourage making reservations sooner rather than later. You can always cancel or change reservations as needed, but securing some kind of accommodations is highly recommended. We have offered Spirit wear options to our Classics and Esprit programs in past years and are excited to extend this offer to our Show Band parents and members this year to promote unity. We are happy to inform you that this year, a Unity Logo has been designed reflecting our three programs, Classics, Esprit and Show Band. This design is available in t-shirts, 1/4 zip pullovers, full zip track jackets and fleece letterman jackets for student members. These letterman jackets have the unity logo on the back and on the front, each member can show their member designation by selecting "S" for Show Band. We also are very proud to launch a Show Band t-shirt available for purchase as well. To view/purchase Spirit Wear, please visit the Esprit online web store at http://actionscreen.com/Esprit . The web store is open from now until November 10th. These items mentioned make great holiday gifts and the unity items are perfect for parents as well as members who are traveling to competitions to wear in proud support of these talented programs. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Logan, who is a member of the Esprit Parent Board and our Esprit Spirit Wear Chair. Her email is [email protected]. Click here for a document that explains how book hotels if you'd like to attend any or all of the competitions this season!
